Red, Yellow, Black, and White….They are precious in his sight, Jesus loves the little children of the world. This Spring Break, I have an opportunity to go to a nation full of Red, yellow, black, and white people. It is a very diverse nation in the Carribean called Belize. This Friday, about 20 of us from the Deerfoot church of Christ in Birmingham Alabama will fly to this nation and will get to minister and teach to those who live in this great nation. Belize is a small country located to the South of Mexico and to the East of Guatemala, it has a population of just over 300,000 people and is the poorest nation in all of central america. Although the people are poor, I have never seen more uplifting and hard working people anywhere in the world. Last year, I had the opportunity to go to Corozal, Belize for a week on a mission trip. The citizens were very eager to listen. They would let us come into their tiny shacks and let us teach them and they would put everything aside to listen. This year, however, we are not going to be in the same city. We are going to the largest city in the country called Belize City. It has one of the highest crime rates in the world. Since 2009, 16 Americans have been killed in the country of Belize. That means that 1 in every 1000 Americans that visit this place doesn’t come home alive. That makes Belize City #12 on the most dangerous places to travel. Throughout the week, we will evangelize to those of all races; Mayans, Asians, Blacks, White Dutch Mennonites. I hope you will be praying for our group as we go to this wonderful nation and that we will be kept safe. I also hope that this mission trip will be a success and I pray that all of you have a safe spring break. Thank you!
